FINANCE MANAGER

We invite suitable applicants to apply for the position of Finance Manager. Reporting to the General Manager, the purpose of this position is to manage the finance team and work closely with all departments to ensure effective organisational outcomes in the areas of finance, taxation, procurement, information technology and administration.

 Duties include:

  • Ensure accounting functions are established and maintained to comply with group accounting policies
  • Supervise/mentor finance and warehouse personnel
  • Oversee the development and implementation of policies, procedures and controls to ensure effectiveness, efficiency and innovation
  • Ensure appropriate internal controls are established, maintained and monitor full compliance
  • Coordinate the monthly management reporting pack
  • Manage the annual budget and quarterly forecast packs
  • Ensure all managers and superintendents understand, monitor and control expenditure performance through discussion, support and provision of reports
  • Provide commercial support and guidance to managers where required
  • Manage the stores and logistics function on-site
  • Oversee the contracts process
  • Liaise with IT support providers

 Candidates will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Accounting/Commerce
  • Membership of a professional organisation (CPA/CA)
  • Minimum ten (10) years of mine accounting experience
  • Previous experience in planning, establishing, implementing and managing finance functions (accounting, supply)
  • Experience/knowledge of integrated computerised accounting systems, strong Excel skills
  • Valid Driver’s Licence (manual vehicle)
  • Attention to detail and excellent time management skills
  • Excellent inter-personnel, team building and communication skills (both written and oral) are essential
  • Be self-motivated, enthusiastic, positive and friendly

Environment & Community Advisor

Crocodile Gold Corporation is an international mining and exploration company focused on safely meeting production targets and sustainable growth.  The company owns and operates the Stawell and Fosterville Gold Mines in central Victoria and also has operations in the Northern Territory.

Stawell Gold Mines is located at Stawell, a well serviced and situated town of approximately 6,300 residents in regional Victoria, 250km west of Melbourne.  It is only a fifteen minute drive from the picturesque Grampians National Park and sixty minutes from the larger regional centre of Ballarat.

The purpose of this position is to assist the Environment and Community Manager to maintain the environmental management systems and community relations activities.

Reporting to the Environment and Community Manager

The key responsibility areas of this position include:

  • Understanding of the role of the site environmental management plan, policies and procedures
  • Experience in water quality monitoring and reporting.
  • Knowledge of Victorian Environmental Regulations.
  • Understanding of hydrogeology.
  • Monitoring, reviewing and reporting on site environmental and social performance
  • Maintaining site environmental systems and procedures.
  • Assisting with community relations activities.
  • Providing advice, support and environmental service to site personnel.
  • Provide assistance to Environmental & Community Manager on a daily basis as required.
  • Ensure all site environmental and social monitoring is undertaken on time and of a high standard.

The successful applicant should possess the following:

  • A tertiary qualification in Environmental or Earth Sciences
  • Victorian manual drivers licence.
  • Excellent communication / public relations skills
  • Competencies in computer software including Excel, MapInfo and Word Processing
  • Desire to maintain understanding of best practice environmental management techniques.
  • Project management experience with the  ability to respond/complete requested projects within deadlines
  • Good communication skills.
  • Sound computer skills including proficiency in Excel, MapInfo and Word Processing
  • Previous mining experience would be advantageous

Laboratory Technician / Mobile Plant Operators

Stawell Gold Mines invites suitably qualified and experienced individuals to apply for this residential surface position of Laboratory Technician / Mobile Plant Operator.

The purpose of this dual position is to safely and efficiently perform Laboratory duties as required and to operate mobile equipment, maintain site cleanliness and maintain tails dam and crusher stockpile including all site rehabilitation requirements, in a timely and efficient manner.

Reporting to the Mill Superintendent and Laboratory Supervisor, you will be responsible for the following duties

  • Health,  safety & environment
  • Water Cart Operation
  • Tractor / Backhoe Driving
  • Tails Dam Maintenance
  • Civil WorksCrushing
  • Perform all aspects of routine metallurgical test work
  • Prepare all geological and metallurgical samples
  • Perform all routine assaying tasks as required
  • Participate in site safety systems
  • Other support and duties as required

The successful candidate should possess the following skills, knowledge, experience, training and qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years earthmoving / Plant experience is highly desired
  • Previous Laboratory experience is highly desired
  • Loader and backhoe competency are a requirement
  • Current Victorian Heavy Rigid Driver’s License is a requirement
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written is a requirement
  • Other Certificates or licenses for heavy machinery is a definite advantage
  • Capacity to communicate with and understand the needs of fellow employees.
  • A high regard for safety is a requirement
  • Forklift licence is desirable
  • First aid certificate is desirable
  • The ability to work as a team member

This position may involve shift work.  Shifts are twelve (12) hours in duration and involve a 4 day on/4 day off roster. Relieving shift work to cover holidays and training undertaken by continuous roster shift workers may also be required.

  • Grinding and Flotation
  • Leaching
  • Elution and Kiln operation
  • Other support and duties as required

The successful candidate should possess the following skills, knowledge, experience, training and qualifications: 

  • A minimum of 3 years earthmoving / Plant experience is highly desired
  • Loader and backhoe competency are a requirement
  • Current Victorian Heavy Rigid Drivers License is a requirement
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written is a requirement
  • Other Certificates or licenses for heavy machinery is a definite advantage
  • Capacity to communicate with and understand the needs of fellow employees.
  • A high regard for safety is a requirement
